“CHRONOS VITAL”

Chronos Vital is a cross-disciplinary installation that explores the convergence of personal vitality and cosmic time. Central to the work is a single abstract visual—a still frame generated from the real-time spectrum analysis of a fellow MIFA artist’s heartbeat. This image was printed onto 8×10 transparency film and developed using the anthotype process, a 19th-century photographic technique that uses beet juice in place of traditional chemical emulsions. Exposed solely to sunlight, the resulting print captures the fragile temporality of life through organic materials and light.
This anthotype print is suspended beneath the heart of Chronos—the personification of time in ancient Greek mythology—within a mixed-media painting composed of acrylic on canvas, embedded paper, and wood. Chronos is rendered partially submerged in the symbolic “water of life,” invoking themes of fluidity, renewal, and cyclical transformation.
By placing the heartbeat-derived image beneath the deity’s chest, the installation forges a visual and conceptual link between the mortal and the eternal. The single pulse, preserved through pigment and sun, becomes a symbolic heart within a timeless body.
Through this synthesis of analog photography, digital media, and traditional painting techniques, Chronos Vital invites reflection on the impermanence of the present moment and the vast, mythic continuum in which it exists. It is both relic and rhythm—a meditation on our place within time’s boundless flow.
“The goal of my work is to invite the viewer to question and explore their own understanding of power & frailty... to look within themselves and to value tangible & intangible aspects of their lives.”
In 2022, I began a research project exploring artificial intelligence and spirituality by using a combination of AI intelligence and traditional art-making techniques.
.
This investigation aims to explore the potential for transcendence within ourselves & the world around us venturing into territories delineating the future of human evolution.

In her body of work “Transcendence,” Ash used AI intelligence to generate digital image-tiles via a prompt describing spirituality. The printed version of these tiles are transferred to canvas, marks are added, and paper, fabric, & roots are applied making this physical-act an allegory to human existence.

to the false idols…
Gods that have nothing
Wandering, hovering
Capturing prayers never meant for deaf ears
Speaking they can’t
Mouths they wear… as accessories of deceit
Nothing more than laws with failures from sin
Apparitions.
Manifestations of our own creation;
realities built on calamities… all awaiting their turn
Spirit of the All-Mighty-No-Ones
True heirs to fortunes from worthless treasures
Wandering, Hovering, capturing lies…
myriad of imperfections.

In this oeuvre, the artist identified visual characteristics of deities, figurine construction, usage of symbolism & highlighted some of the protests that surged from the unscrupulous measures taken by this organization to establish supreme dominion.
These notions are still relevant in the present day as we face constant ideological bombardment from various organizations that seek to keep the masses distracted whilst conducting their personal agendas. Many of us are still victims to “false idols” created in order to ensure that we place faith and credibility solely on wealth, consumerism, & status.

“THE JOURNEY”
writing on painting…
¡No me dejes morir sola!
Mientras contemplo mi traspaso me doy cuenta:
now a continuous tiredness makes me wanna stop.
